Tikka T3/T3X - 2 lug Hex End Action Wrench
The Tikka 2 lug actions are strong and light, but be aware that most factory barrels are installed extremely tight. This Action wrench is best used with an action that has been set up as a switch barrel configuration by your gunsmith, who has already removed the factory barrel.
Some shooters and gunsmiths really prefer to use a torque wrench when installing barrels because they want to maintain the exact same headspace each time they swap barrels. For those who prefer to use a torque wrench we now offer hex end action wrenches.
Our Hex Style Action Wrenches feature a hex end which allows installation of barrels while the action is still in most stocks. This is important to those who have "glue-ins" and like the security of torquing their barrels. We recommend the use of a non-ratcheting (low-profile) torque wrench if installing barrels with the action in the stock.
We manufacture ours from stainless steel because we prefer to use a material that is rust-resistant, strong enough to remove factory barrels without twisting or destorting, and most importantly, softer than the actions and barrels we are fitting together.
* NOTE: Most factory barrels are installed to very a high torque. Which makes removing a factory barrel difficult and best done by a competent gunsmith. This Action wrench is best used with an action that has been setup as a switch barrel configuration by your gunsmith, who has already removed the factory barrel.
In any case, we strongly recommend using the action wrench with our 4 bolt barrel vice to firmly grip the barrel avoid the barrel spinning.
